The Glamis Adventure Playground is a professionally staffed adventure playground with open-access for children aged 6 to 16.

Children participate in building play structures, dens, swings and tree houses. Changes are discussed with children and we keep to the traditional “adventure play” way of running the playground, which means the children have access to tools, timber, paint, nails and so on. There is, therefore, already an established culture of involvement. Ideally, kids would leave their front door and there would be their play environment, rich in challenges, natural, free and full of other kids to play with.

In today’s environment, especially in urban environments and in the centre of the city of London, those boundless opportunities are often absent. At Glamis we attempt, with sound play work practice, to provide that play environment that supports a young person’s development allowing them to grow.

Being aware of the children’s needs for activity, fresh air, reduced time watching TV and staring at computer screens, and a generally less sedentary lifestyle, we focus on healthy eating and exercise, specially outdoor activities. We have witnessed that if children have the offer of healthy food and if they learn to cook it themselves, they will develop an appetite for vegetables, pulses and the like.

Our trained playworkers ensure that children can explore their own play experiences.

Playing outside, working with their hands, games, arts & crafts, water games - if your child can imagine it, it's happening here!

“At Glamis Adventure Playground, we share our tea outside, coming and going from the open fire. We feel the rain on our faces, the wind in our hair, the heat and the cold. It’s all part of the Glamis play experience.”
